Steve's Bio
Steve has lived in Hawthorn Woods since 1987, has been married for 30 years to Mary Ann Riess (Favia), and has two children, Sarah (28) and Rachel (24). Steve has owned a small business in the employment and staffing industry since 1993 (Nu-Way Search, Inc.) and continues to operate it today. Steve is a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Hawthorn Woods.
Steve Riess has always participated in his community, beginning with the Boy Scouts and Explorers, and has served as a Trustee in the Village of Hawthorn Woods since 1999. He serves as liaison to the Environmental Committee, the Finance Committee, and the Technology Committee, and is an outspoken and respected member of the Village Board.
Steve is also an active member of the South Lake County CERT (Community Emergency Response Team), serves on the Lake Zurich High School Career Advisory Council (CAC), was Treasurer of Seed95, the School District 95 organization, and served as a speaker and fundraising campaigner to build the Foglia YMCA. He has functioned as Guardian ad Litem for two seniors in the last 12 years.
Steve coached AYSO soccer in the Ela Township area for 6 years and then functioned as a referee for two years. Steve is a member of the Chicago Botanical Gardens, National Arbor Day Foundation, and the Sierra Club. Steve participates in the Adopt-a-Highway cleanup program.
Steve is a licensed Ham Radio operator.
